"We understand, with Mercy being a private Catholic institution, that they have the authority to create rules regarding prom. We understand that they don't have to agree with same sex couples, but as a basic human right they DO have to respect them. The way the Mercy High School administration (including the principle) has bullied vulnerable teenage girls already going through emotional changes is extremely contradictory of their mission statement where empowering women is what they 'supposedly' strive for."

"I'm signing because girls at Middletown High brought their friends (to prom) who were girls and no one thought twice to question their sexual preferences. The girls that go to Mercy pay a lot of money to go there, no educational institution should regulate prom dates unless it's criminal as in murder, not lesbianism. My cousin Angie Warzecha went to Mercy before she commit suicide. It's girls like her who might have benefited from now having pressure to take a male to a prom. Stop forcing gender roles, it's not worth it!"
